About the Show

It is based on the events in the Newfoundland town of Gander during the week following the September 11 attacks, when 38 planes, carrying approximately 7,000 passengers, were ordered to land unexpectedly at Gander International Airport. The characters in the musical are based on actual Gander residents and the stranded travelers they housed and fed.

The Heart of the story lies in the extraordinary generosity of the people of Gander and neighboring towns. They opened their homes, schools, and community centres to shelter, feed and support the stranded travellers. Over the next few says, deep bonds formed between the locals and the "come from aways". The show highlights various true stories of connection, cultural exchange, and shared humanity amidst global tragedy.
